A few years ago, I read a book written by Chris Guillebeau titled The Art of Non-Conformity. Chris’ approach to working from anywhere in the world struck me as a novel idea, and one that I questioned at the time. Inspired and driven to become my own boss, I now find myself living a very similar life. While I may not be working from every country in the world, my work tends to take me outside my office more than half the time.

Technology Means Working from Anywhere

Technology makes it all possible. Last Monday night, I found myself finishing up a session with clients in Kentucky just minutes before I needed to be online for my class at NYU. I pulled into the first restaurant I could find and ran to find a comfortable booth before logging into the class. Over dinner, I was able to get through more than half of the week’s lesson before moving to my car to finish in the parking lot (it was a nice evening, and I hated taking up valuable space that meant income to my waitress).

As technology develops, what changes are you making? Are you looking for new ways to deliver services to your clients, making it easier for them to do business with you? I challenge veterinary practices on this everyday. If we aren’t willing to make changes to our business systems, in order to meet the rising demands of our clients, then we’ll quickly be left behind. Not sure where to begin? Let’s talk about it! I invite you to send me an email, or make a comment below.
